The world is for thousands a freak show; the images flicker past and vanish; the impressions remain flat and unconnected in the soul. Thus they are easily led by the opinions of others, are content to let their impressions be shuffled and rearranged and evaluated differently.

This is all fine and well, but is it really possible to have a debate on immigration when the statistics have been twisted by Brown in such way? It's very easy for the tabloid press to make these attacks when the government doesn't do themselves any favours on the subject and pretend that there hasn't been an impact on public services as IPPR pointed out.
