Fantastic article - I was having a debate last night with a guy who thought that the NHS should just keep you alive, and if you couldn't afford any more then you shouldn't get it. He scared me. I think the comparison of life expectancy is a bit misleading though; if you adjust for homicide and RTAs the USA does quite well: http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/us_life_expectancy_were_number_1/
