A dictionary, a paradise hell and stress is good for you PDF Print E-mail

Well, it has taken a little while but the shiny new Daily Mail Dictionary is here. I have taken the bulk of the entries from an old thread on Mailwatch, I hope people don't mind but I thought it could do with updating and maintaining so I've put it here ready for any new entries to be added. Any thoughts, let me know.

In other news I saw a story in Friday's Daily Mail that - for me - really sums up exactly what this newspaper is about. The Daily Mail is out to see the worst in everything; no matter how good something seems or sounds they can't wait to correct you by informing you that actually said thing is awful and will probably kill you.

You may well have been aware of the recent job on offer on a paradise Australian Island - the Daily Mail have certainly been covering it - and that someone has now got the job. So, how does the Daily Mail react? By telling us that the 'best job in the world' is actually going to be a living hell:

Paradise is HELL.

I struggle to put into words reasons why the Daily Mail insists on finding or creating a negative angle on everything. Why do readers want to read such a depressing paper? Words fail me.

Anyway, thankfully there was some good news in today's Daily Mail:

Stress will make you live longer, so we'll try and stress you out even more now.

Wow, quite the revelation considering how the Daily Mail is normally insisting that stress is a lethal killer: Stress of term time is putting teachers' mental health at risk, says NUT; Men struggle with recession depression as they are twice as likely to suffer stress in silence; Scientists create 10-minute stress test that could save your life; 'Stress' kills the mother of tragic TV star Speight; Pregnancy stress linked to asthma and allergies are just a few of other 7000 results for 'stress' on the Daily Mail website.

It wasn't long ago that the 'Good Health' magazine was arguing that catching Swine flu could be good for you; I wonder if next week they will run a special two-page spread on how cancer actually helps you live longer and stay happier.
