The world is for thousands a freak show; the images flicker past and vanish; the impressions remain flat and unconnected in the soul. Thus they are easily led by the opinions of others, are content to let their impressions be shuffled and rearranged and evaluated differently.

In support of torture PDF Print E-mail

Mail readers, like their idol Littlejohn, cannot distinguish between a terrorist, and someone suspected of terrorist activities. In a recent column Littlejohn argued that Britain should not take back 'terrorists' from Guantanamo Bay, making it quite clear that he considers anybody incarcerated in Guantanamo Bay as being terrorists - ignoring the fact that many have not even faced trial or have even been accused of anything specifically.

However, such absolute certainty in the justice system against brown people does have its advantages: we call all happily condone the torture of these people (yet 'Nu-Liebour' are regularly accused by the Mail and its readers of being utterly incompetent in every way, so why is their ability to arrest only guilty suspected terrorists taken for granted by the Mail? Is it 'cos they is normally brown?).

The Mail commentators have really outdone themselves today on the issue of torturing suspects. Funny how they accuse the state of being 'Stalinist' when two children are taken away by social services and given to a gay couple, yet when the state are responsible for torture that is fine!

Anyway, today's horrible Mail commentators are out in force on an article relating to the argument on releasing documents detailing torture:

Let us be perfectly clear. By far the majority of British citizens couldn't care less what happens to terrorists when they are captured. We don't care who does what to them as long as we extract every piece of information that will help us protect ourselves from them.

We don't care if they have no fingernails, no toenails.

These are inhuman scum. They really shouldn't exist in a decent world.

As such, whatever happens to them that sees us safe is justifiable and no apology is needed. Human rights only apply to humans. Perhaps PETA might speak for them.

Let me be perfectly clear: you do not speak for me you fucking idiot. These people are not terrorists you fucking imbecile, they are arrested under the suspicion that they may have taken part in or planned or in some way supported acts of terror (however loosely those are defined). The state can arrest anyone - including you - and detain you without charge under anti-terrorism laws and perhaps they might even fly you out of the country for a bit of the torture you are so keen for others to be put through. I'd also be careful about trying to define 'humans' as well, for I don't consider you worthy of human rights, but luckily I'm in no position to make those judgments and neither are you.

Hmm... wasn't this the justification rolled out by those horrible Communists that the Mail regularly accuses New Labour of being? No wonder you have used a false name - fellow Mail readers would hunt you down otherwise.

Agh Diddums,
The innocent people killed in bomb atrocities lost more than their fingernails, they were just decent people going about their business.
Perhaps some lily livered dogooding barrister will get them loads of money,a shiny new car,and a 5* star holiday, for them and all their extended families.
Go on take it,you know you are worth it!
This the UK, now the land of craziness, where the good get overtaxed, criminals and hooligans roam the street, sick people and babies die because there are no beds available, babies at risk die because of the hierachy and ego of overpayed social services management, hospitals are filthy, and we even have to worry about getting our rubbish in the right bins, or we are fined.
Yep, I know they need the money for compensation to people that kill and maim, but I really need to pay my mortgage, and I have no money thru the credit crunch, and a very disabled son.
Anybody to help me,hello?
Ok,thought not,worth a try though.I will have to mug a pensioner.

Shaz, you should seriously consider educating yourself you fucking moron. Perhaps then you will be able to do more than illiterately regurgitate the Mail worldview. I pity you if this is really your outlook on the world - the Mail must be really proud to have you as a reader and contributor to their website (this childlike post has so far received 138 positive ratings).

These people are not detained for no reason; they are clearly being suspected of terrorism for a reason.
If this is what it takes to keep the world a safer place then I see not problem with this.

Y'know, I'm not too troubled by the prospect of torturing terrorists to prevent their atrocities.

If it saves one innocent from being blown up, it was worth it.

It's the old adage. If you are 30 minutes away from saving many lives due to an impending bomb. You get your answers, no matter how.

All positively rated by Mail readers; whereas some humanity and sense on the subject are naturally well in the red:

There is NO justification for using, or condoning torture on ANYONE - no matter what the reasons may be.
I just hope that one day it will become only too apparent to the supporters why I feel so strongly against it.
For once in your miserable sycophantic lives just sit and IMAGINE having YOUR fingernails extracted because you are suspected of being involved in a crime you know nothing about.

Councils emptying bins less than once a week: disgusting, terrible and a crime against humanity.

Suspects being tortured without trial: neccesary, 'agh diddums' and perfectly OK.

There, in two short lines, is the Mail and its readers for you.
