We love Nick Griffin! PDF Print E-mail

The Daily Mail - and in fact most mainstream newspapers - failed to report Nick Griffin's comments about drowning immigrants, yet they find time for reporting pretty much every other thing that happens to him. Today's opportunity for Daily Mail readers to declare their love for Nick Griffin (and racism) is: 'BNP leader Nick Griffin snubbed on first day in European Parliament as fellow MEP refuses to sit next to him'.

Somehow, to a tabloid editor, this story is more important than reporting the fact that Nick Griffin during a live interview with the BBC said:

"the only measure, sooner or later, which is going to stop immigration and stop large numbers of sub-Saharan Africans dying on the way to get over here is to get very tough with those coming over.

"Frankly, they need to sink several of those boats.

"Anyone coming up with measures like that we'll support but anything which is there as a 'oh, we need to do something about it' but in the end doing something about it means bringing them into Europe' we will oppose."

Had the Daily Mail actually reported these comments its readers might be slightly reluctant to post comments like:

strikes me there is a lot of childishness going on here. Whether you like, or dislike what the BNP stand for, they were democratically elected.

And perhaps it wouldn't be 92 votes in the green. Perhaps there wouldn't be comments like:

The word "Immigration" will haunt Europe for decades to come. Click to rate Rating 86

And perhaps - maybe - people who point out that Nick Griffin is scum wouldn't be quite so far in the red:

Good. I'd refuse to sit next to him as well, in fact I object to sharing the same atmosphere as him and his pal. The sooner people who voted for them realise what scum they are the better. Click to rate Rating 103

But then maybe honest, impartial reporting is a little bit too much to ask from the Daily Mail.

I would have no problem sitting next to Mr Griffin. Even if you do not like what he says, at least you can be sure he means it. All you people who call him scum are just hypocrites.

Nick Griffin never advocated drowning anyone. Drowning is a word you have introduced into the debate. Please uphold the standard you constantly impose on others and stick to the facts.

I'm positively left-wing and yet I know how to capitalise! Surely it's a miracle?

"maybe some justice will creep in for us now someone is there to rock the boat, good ole democracy! (did i spell that right , i was educated under labour, my apologies)"

A new record. This person is blaming their own ignorance on Labour. I'm still being educated under Labour and I can spell and punctuate very well.

"Is this the same democracy we are losing British army lives for in Afghanistan."

It always amuses me how irrelevent some comments can be.

What are the mail doing? This is truly ridiculous.

They're getting their pound of flesh, in vindictive tests, it's pretty hard to become a citizen these days. All the Mail want to write about is how Nick Griffin has no mates to play with...

At least they didn't manage to find a positive way to Spin Griffins comments on drowning African. "Nick Griffin wants more Life Boats... Brown rearranges deckchairs!"
