Take one pointless story: Tax map of Britain shows middle-class towns clobbered by the Treasury, and add a unhealthy dose of Mail readers and you end up with:
Don't worry Labour will redress this soon by making everybody pay 100% of what they earn to pay for the Bloody mess BROWN THE USELESS CLOWN has got us into!

This is a story that points out that the areas with the highest average wage, wait for it, pay the highest amount of tax!
What a shocking revelation. What an example of how the Daily Mail feeds the angry mob with nothing stories that actually tell anybody with a brain larger than a pea absolutely nothing they did not already know, and yet the drip, drip, drip of such stories serves to trigger the mob to start screaming about the government and 'broken Britain'.
It also provides the chance for some commenters to blame immigrants, something the Mail always likes to encourage:
As I live in Hull - and pay more than 5 times the quoted average of 2500 per year in tax, I would suggest these figures are corrupted by the high numbers of unemployed, immigrants and single parents in the city - all of who are paying no tax at all!! Does this mean I can claim a rebate?? Answers from our friends at HMRC would be greatly appreciated.

There you have it, even when earning considerably more than the average wage a Mail reader can still be a whinging, hard done by git.
